BACKYARD PROGRAM
There’s no secret to getting better.
No magic drill. No shortcut. No coach with a hidden formula.
No matter what any coach tells you when it comes to training, the truth is simple: the only thing that makes you better is consistency.
And I’m not talking about the one day a week you skate with me on the ice.
I say it every year at my camps and lessons — take what you learn here and go replicate it in your driveway.
You need reps.
That’s it.
Take the fundamentals and become elite at them by practicing every single day. Puck control. Shooting. Thinking the game. The foundation matters, and no matter how good you think you are, you can always sharpen it and become better at it.
This program isn’t just about showing up for lessons. It’s about accountability. It’s about giving you the tools to get better at home, because that’s where true progress actually happens.
I tell this story all the time — I’m 28 years old and I still practice in my driveway.
I became a 2-time Division I All-American off countless hours of driveway work. I turned pro off practicing the right things on my own! Not because of a secret. Not because I found some shortcut.
Because of reps.
Intentional reps.
So ask yourself honestly — do you really want to get better?
If the answer is yes, then commit to doing the work on your own. Commit to your driveway. Commit to consistency.
And if you don’t know what to do at home? Perfect. That’s where I help.
This is the same type of program I put myself through every summer to become an elite shooter, become more confident in my puck handling, and ultimately build that confident swagger in my own game. I know it works because I still do it myself.
The only real way to get better is simple:
Do the reps. Do them intentionally. Do them consistently.
That’s where elite players are made. Not just at the rink — in the driveway.
